I have a file wpud430 defined in cics. I needed to edit some values in the file through file manager. For that I closed and unallocated the file in cics. Then I tried to open the file in edit mode through file manager. Still it is giving me the following error message.
"IEC161I 052(013)-084,PG1938,#PG1938 #PG1938,SYS00005,,,
IEC161I ZMKT.PROD.WPUD430.DEAL.KSDS,
IEC161I ZMKT.PROD.WPUD430.DEAL.KSDS.DATA,ICF.CATALOG.PROD1"
Can you please help in identifying the problem. |

Here is the info on IEC161I
Obvously, something still has the DS enqueued.
Determine what has an exclusive on your DS during the time you are attempting the EDIT. |

What does this mean?

I know about closing files in CICS but how did you unallocate the file? What does a
in the CICS region show -- post the output with BBcode? |

If the FCT entry doesn't allow UPDATE, then you need to contact your CICS Systems Support (if this is Production).
Otherwise, file characteristics can be modified via CEMT, but I'd rather not show you this, as it could cause a security breach. |

Use GETENQ command besides that file in 3.4 to see what other task is using that file when you are trying to edit. |

vin12pr, GETENQ sounds like a site-specific command. |

You can "trick" ISPF 3.4 with a VSAM file, by attempting to compress (which you can't) a VSAM file (PF1 I think), pressing it twice and after the second PF1, a list of "JOBS" which have "ENQUEUED" on the file, are displayed.

I was thinking the same thing -- try a (R)ename line command on a 3.4 screen (but don't rename it if it lets you). |
