Hi, I am trying to delete a DSN and it gives me this message.

Deallocation failed for data set 'SYS1.MIM.AUTH'. Please advice.

How do you issue DELETE? ISPF D(elete) or IDCAMS DELETE, was there soem message ID associated with that message?

I tried ISPF , IDCAMS with force and purge also....I was not able to find any message...

Post the SYSOUT and SYSPRINT from the IDCAMS for a start

An IOSxxx message followedby an IEC603I is often an indication of a hardware problem. Have you had a look at the Erep data? If the VTOC is indexed on the disk it may be worth rebuilding the index to see if that helps . The error message implies the problem is writing data to the disk and if you are trying to delete the dataset the update is probably taking place in the VTOC.
