I get an abend when I dummy my output PS file and also remove the DCB. But when I provide DCB it works fine. I was of the opinion that we do not need DCB definition when we dummy the file. Please note that the routine handling the I/O is assembler and no definition in COBOL is required for files in our system. Is the assembler the reason for this or even COBOL would require a DCB on a DD DUMMY? |

What abend do you get, and what is the explanation from the manuals regarding this abend.
What happens when you try it with a COBOL module. |

Suggestion: go to the Manuals link at the top of the page, find the JCL User's Guide manual, and read section 4.2.2.1 on how the system gets DCB parameter values. Compare what is needed for a complete DCB with the provided data in the Assembler program. On a DD DUMMY, where will the values come from? |
