Maintenance Project, you can say ...are the one in which you are not going to develop any code or system from the scratch. System & their functionalities are already built there, and you are required to enhance the functioning or you need to keep working the system's smooth functiopning time to time dur to various reasons or requests.
Production Support : Its more or less same to Maintenance....Suppose there is a mainframe system in which 1000 of jobs running daily for any system. And you are responsible for the smooth complition of the whole batch. Time to time you require to solve jobs abending etc....alll this regular activities belong to Production Support.
Hope I make it a bit clear.

Hi Priyesh.
Thanks for your reply.
More question regarding maintenance project
1.what will be time limit for an software company to provide the maintenance support to that client?
2.who will require the changes whether the client itself or Onsite people?
With Thanks,

Its decided at the time of contract establishment.....Both parties based on some terms agrees up on certain time period.

Obviously the end requester for the changes is client itself....But time to time may be developer needs to make changes as per client need.
Onsite people are nothing except developer in direct touch to client in Onshore-offshore Model. So loosely you can say its client who need to get the changes.
