is there any CICS command that will give me the record counts for a given VSAM DDNAME. I have not found any CICS commands that will return this information, if anyone has any idea of how I can get this information I would like to here from you. |

As far as I know that data is not available in CICS. |

There isn't any native CICS command you could issue. However, you could CALL a REXX routine in CICS, which issues a LISTDSI function (LIST DataSet Information), but I'm unsure whether this function applies to VSAM files. Check the REXX manuals for more information.
A sure fire method to obtain VSAM file characteristics would be an Assembler sub-program, which issues a SHOWCB macro, but IIRC, this expands into an SVC (SuperVisor Call), which should not be used in CICS or if used, only on a limited basis.
Other than that, there's File-Domain Control Block traversing, whose information is not found on BookManager but in Licensed manuals (purchased only) and requires advanced Assembler knowledge.
