I'm not sure what you mean by "using that area", but an ENQ waiting on a resource can be displayed with console command D GRS,C

What is ISPF console? Use a system console or /D GRS,C in SDSF if you are authorized.

Hello,

Please clarify. . .

If you mean that a dasd dataset is in use, you can usually find which process or user has the dataset in use by going to tso/ispf 3.4, listing the dataset, and placing an "S" beside the dataset name. You will get an "in use message". Press F1 twice and you should see who/what has the dataset allocated.

Hi,

whohas command infront of the dataset can be used to find who owned the dataset and which mode.

But Sadanand Sutar is asking about IDMS database areas. There are several jobs that will be waiting for some area held by another job. I am not sure if it will create an entry in PLOG or not. I asked same que to my IDMS DBA he said there is no way to find it.

Thanks,
Venkat

"WHOHAS" may or may not be available at any particular site, since it's not a standard TSO command.

I didn't notice the forum this question was posted to. I was thinking of MVS dataset reservation.

I am not familiar with IDMS and if the DBA says you can't find out I guess that's that.
