why are they call as EXIT program.........

1. Due to they provides exit from application to CICS system or.

2. They giving some extra benefit to region from normal CICS functioning...

3. or somethings else.

Please advice on it.

Are you referring to an EXIT, such as the exit from a PERFORMed routine or EXIT PROGRAM, which returns control to either the calling program or CICS itself (logical level 0)?

Both are defined in the applicable COBOL manual.

Have you reviewed the "Manuals" link on the Main page?

Regards,

Thanks for your reply on it...

Yes this programs are global and user related program...and they are doing some function which enhance a CICS performance as well as increase its functional capability

And one more things, they are calling some function or process (means program to same level or higher level dependes on call).....

So why are they called as "EXIT PROGRAM" (Global/User Exit program)???

Looking for your advice on it.

You would appear to be referring to GLobal User Exits (GLUE) and Task Related User Exits (TRUE). These are programs which get control during CICS processing at IBM-defined points in processing. They are called "exits" because, at that point, processing exits the standard CICS code, albeit temporarily.

Garry.
