i want to know why the total no of steps of a job is restricted to 255 and the total dd statements to 3273?

This is decided by IBM, No other special reasons.

I think the reason is how the Job control Table and Step Control Table is defined (JCT and SCT). May be a one byte with HIGH VALUES
(X 'FF' = decimal 255) could be the reason.
