Can anyone tell me what is the layout of OPCA VSAM dataset?
We know for OPCA there are 4 important VSAMs:
*.*.AD
*.*.WS
*.*.SI
*.*.RD
OPC will write/update/read inforamtion into 4 VSAM.
Now, I copy those VSAM to PS dataset for each, but I don't know what is meaning for each column, e.g. from position 2 to position 17 is for APPLICATION NAME, and data type is CHAR.
So can anyone help me about this? |

Hello,
If you want info from OPC, i suggest you talk with your scheduling people to get the info.
If you try to use the copied files you will probably encounter problems when the layouts are changed. It is better to use existing tools rather than write your own access to the data. fwiw. |

Instead of analysing the Vsam File layout you can try to use the OPC Batch JCL to print the information into PS file
The Batch jobs are available for
Application Description - AD
Workstation Description - WS
Current Plan - CP
etc.........................
I also tried what you said in past, after that scheduling peoples provided this idea. Don't try to write into those datasets which ends with MAJOR problem. It is not good to play with those datasets as I wounded a lot because of this.......... |

Tivoli Workload Scheduler Diagnosis Guide and Reference SC32-1261-04
contains the lay-out of OPC data areas.
Used them myself in some SAS programs and as far as i know they are
still working. |
