Hello
In general, to create a new IMS database once the DBD is coded , DBD genned and physical Dataset Created and loaded with records how is this dataset linked to the IMS system i.e how is it made to recognise by the IMS region as the Database when we refer it with the DBNAME
Is it possible that the IMS DB name is specified but the underlying VSAM dataset which acts as the Database be not specified to the system .. how is the linking between the logial DBDname and physical Database happen
the specific problem details are as follows
Requirement : To Add the datasets (IMS databases) to the Online Region so that the online region recognises these datasets as IMS databases
so that I can do a /dis DB and check for its status
Tried to Investigate :
Found out how the rest of the IMS databases are recognised by the system ;
The DLI job that runs in the background had the Databases and their DB names defined for the existing Databases
Tried to contact the system admin group for editing the background DLI job to concatenate the datasets, however they have informed that the datasets have to be added dynamically
through the IMS Region ..
with /DBR and then /STA DB
From the material found on these commands I was not able to figure out how these could be helpful
Thanks in advance |

Contact your IMS system programmer or MTO (Master Terminal Operator), they will you what need to be done. The DD cards for those databases should be placed somewhere in IMS start procedure. |
