Hi,
It's not very clear what you are trying to do -
1. What does "listing" refers to in "listing of the SUPERC comparison"?
2.
Quote: |
" gave in the command line like , compare save |
where? once you compare via ISPF 3.13 then on command prompt or after a batch execution, if batch why there is such a need?
3. I know in ISPF 3.4 if we give "Save List", it would do what you say - I'm not aware about SuperC save command -
Quote: |
it has been told in the manual |
can you please direct to that document?
4. And does your question actually relates to this thread? |

Hi,
May be this is what you were looking for . . .
Listing DS Name
The name of the list data set to which SuperC writes the results of the comparison. However, if you enter NOLIST in the Listing Type field, SuperC does not create an output listing, so this name is ignored. Also, if you chose batch mode, this field does not appear on the panel. The SuperC Utility - Submit Batch Jobs panel is used instead. If you leave this field blank, SuperC allocates a list data set, using default data set attributes and this data set name:
prefix.userid.SUPERC.LIST
where prefix is your TSO prefix and userid is your user ID. If your prefix and user ID are identical, only your prefix is used. Also, if you do not have a prefix, only your user ID is used.
If you enter a fully qualified data set name SuperC uses it as specified. Otherwise, SuperC only appends your TSO prefix to the front of the data set name specified. If you run with TSO PROFILE NOPREFIX, SuperC uses the name as you entered it, which can result in an attempt to catalog the name in the master catalog.
If you enter the name of a data set that already exists, the contents of that data set are replaced by the new output listing. However, if the data set is sequential, you can add this listing to the data set instead of replacing it by including the APNDLST process option in your profile data set.
If you enter the name of a data set that does not exist, SuperC allocates it for you. The data set is allocated as a sequential data set unless you enter a member name after it, in which case it is allocated as a partitioned data set. |

sorry for making myself not clear ..........
Actually, i am trying to use isredit macro command "compare dsname" in my macro to compare the current dataset with the dataset specified in the dsname of the macro command.
The manual is here in the path,
publibfp.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr/BOOKS/ispzem40/3.2.12?DT=20050712213335
here what i am trying to do is, once i compare the datasets , i want to save that comparison in a dataset. so that i can take information from that dataset later.
i am not referring to ISPF 3.13. i dont know, how to invoke 3.13 from the macro. so only i am using the compare command.
i guess my question relates to this thread, becoz there have been questions asked relating to invoke the compare command either from tso or ISPF. i dont think it is possible from tso environment.
anuj, can you help me out? |

anuj,
i got your point. but what i want here is to invoke the compare command from the macro. i dont have any idea about, invoking SUPERC comparison from the macro. so, i need to know whether we can invoke the 3.13 comparison from the macro or otherwise, a way to save the listing from the macro, using "ISREDIT COMPARE DSNAME SAVE"........
i know that superc comparison creates a dataset using the userid.SUPERC.LIST ..... but i need to know whether SUPERC can be invoked from the ISPF edit macro......... |

The help for the COMPARE command says about SAVE:
Quote: |
Saves the listing produced by the SuperC compare program.
The listing is saved in a data set called
prefix.ISPFEDIT.COMPARE.LIST. The SAVE option is intended
primarily for debugging purposes, but you may want to use
it to create SuperC listings easily. |
It worked for me when I tried it.
Whereas, you were incorrectly looking for userid.SUPERC.LIST. |

I ran the 'COMPARE other.dsn SAVE' command and the file "prefix.ISPFEDIT.COMPARE.LIST" got created, just as Pedro said.
Can you try again and tell us if you still have that problem? |
