Hi,

I have a requirement of matching two files and inserting one field from the first file and write the second file. Please find below the scenario,

File1

fields A,B,C

File2

fields D,B,G

If the field B in file1 is equal to field B in File2 then move field C to file2 and write file2

Both the files are VB length. Is this requirement possible to do using SORT?

Kindly help me in this regard

Thanks and regards
Renjith

Yes, it's possible with DFSORT/ICETOOL. But you need to give more details.

Please show an example of the records in each input file (relevant fields only) and what you expect for output. Give the starting position, length and format of each relevant field. Give the RECFM and LRECL of the input files. If file1 can have duplicates within it, show that in your example. If file2 can have duplicates within it, show that in your example.
