FTP transfers files. If you only want the first 200 bytes of each record, write a program or use a utility to extract the data you want into another file and then FTP that file. |

o, This is to say the FTP can just transfer the whole files or can omit the space in the end of the records ?
I think It can omit the space in the trail of each records , it should be some function can support the first segment of the records.
of course, Just for the first segment, DFSORT can help us . |

Okay, you're now asking a different question. Perhaps if you clarify exactly what you're wanting to know, that would help.
1. If you are asking about sending only the first 200 bytes of a 231 byte record, FTP will not do this. FTP transfers files -- not parts of files, not pieces of files, not some records in the file -- entire, whole, complete files.
2. If you are saying the last 31 bytes of each and every record are spaces, you can use the FTP system option TRAILINGBLANKS FALSE to omit them from the FTP transfer. However, if there are 37 trailing blanks on a record all 37 of them will be omitted -- you can't specify only to get rid of the last 31 trailing blanks. Either ALL of the trailing blanks go away, or NONE of the trailing blanks are discarded. |
