Hi,
How can i copy a Tape Dataset to another Tape Dataset.
I know of one option:
1. Copy the Tape Dataset to a QSAM file
2. Convert the QSAM file to a Tape Dataset.
Is there any other option? |

meditate... meditate... device independence is one of the main paradigms of zOS
a tape dataset is a sequential dataset ( PS ),
another tape dataset is another sequential dataset ( PS )
You can directly copy tape_in to tape_out
another note ....
QSAM is a way to access data not a dataset organization
QSAM ( queues sequential access method )
the application program does not have to syncronize across I/O operations
GET/PUT
BSAM ( basic sequential access method )
leaves the burden of syncronization across I/O to the program
READ,WAIT /WRITE,WAIT |

Hello,
Or possibly your sort product if the tape is high volume. . .
It may be that your system automatically invokes sort for straight iebgener copy executions. . |
