Hi,
This query is in DB2 for z/os.I created a Tablespace and created two tables - Table A & TableB. Inserted 5 rows each. Took Image copy of the tablespace and dropped TableA.
I ran the Recover job but did not get back the dropped table TableA.
Whereas If I just deleted few rows from the TableB and ran the Recover Tablespace utility then the rows are restored to TableB.
Tried re creating the TableA. Didnt insert any rows. Ran the recover tablespace job but still didnt get the data back to that TableA.
Does the mean that the Recover utility recovers data only for those tables for which the records are deleted and does not recover the whole table at all?
One of my friend tried it in his DB2 for z/os(different company) and he says he dropped the table and when he ran the Recover tablespace job he got back the dropped table too.
He also used the same DB2 Ver 8.1 as mine.
Please clarify.. Should I change some parameters in my environment. |

JontyJun,
There is a lot of difference between a recovering DATA & recovering an OBJECT. Lots of things happen when you drop an object or create one.
This is DATA RECOVERY

Did you compare the RECOVERY JOB & PARAMETERS involved of your shop & friends shop.
Thank You,

Compared the jobs and parms.. both r same. But I feel as per the IBM manuals the dropped object cannot be recovered just by running the recover jobs.
Firstly the OBID should be translated to the old OBID then recovered.
Thx.. |

Jontyjun,
In your friends place, there might be some shop specific settings for RECOVERing DB2 objects.
Thank You,
Sushanth |
