When I issue command "DCMT VARY AREA <Area-name> UPD/RET", got an unique error "3018 ERROR CLOSING AREA <area-name>. "
The activities that I perfomred before this error was
1) I ran one job which makes areas offline and runs in CV update mode
First step of job to make areas offline runs fine, but due to some reason it gets abended in next batch program.
So I restarted job from last step to make areas online.
At this time I got an error of areas are in Use, So I executes commands to UNLOCK area.
Then I again I restarted job to make areas online which ran fine.
But then again if tried to make areas offline it will not work and will give above error 3018. then I have to contact DBA who makes journals offline then only this problem get resolves.
Please let me know if the steps I have taken after my pgm abend are wrong and what is the resolution to solve such area problem without making journals offline. |

Hi,
Looks like your batch program (application) does not have a finish. FINISH will resolve this issue. Also you can restore to your previous backup and try to bring up the database that should work.
