Is there an option in edit to turn on/off invalid character notification?
I had a problem with a parmlib member where I had some invalid characters (hex 41's). When a coworker edits the member, he sees
"-caution- data contains invalid (non-display) characters. use command FIND P'.' to position cursor to these"
when I edit the same member with my ID, and turn hex on, I see the hex 41's, but I do not get the warning message. and FIND P'.' returns "No CHARS '.' found
I've searched bookmanager to no avail. Anyone know what might be different? |

you will receive the message when your profile indicates CAPS ON.
if your profile is CAPS OFF, you will not receive the message. |

Tried CAPS ON, still not seeing the warning message.
My profile is exactly the same as my coworker who is seeing the warning:
....PARMLIB (FIXED - 80)....RECOVERY OFF....NUMBER OFF..................
....CAPS ON....HEX OFF....NULLS ON STD....TABS OFF....SETUNDO STG.......
....AUTOSAVE ON....AUTONUM OFF....AUTOLIST OFF....STATS ON..............
....PROFILE UNLOCK....IMACRO NONE....PACK OFF....NOTE ON................
....HILITE PLI LOGIC CURSOR FIND MARGINS(2,80).......................... |

I think the problem is with my terminal software. I'm using Attachmate EXTRA!. If I disable "support extended attributes" in my session, I'm limited to 4 text colors, but I now see the warning. |
