Hi,
I would like to know if there is any way to convert ANSI characters from the input dataset (PS) to readable format using any utilities in JCL . Output would be in PS dataset.
Thanks,

I guess everything on mainframe is in EBCDIC.
Please explain your requirement. |

Thanks for the reply.
But, Ireally dont understand what the PS has. The Input dataset has these ANSI data that is goin to UNIX box for some processing. (The data is converted to ANSI from EBCDIC using C++ and COBOL program.).
Please let me know for more details.
Thanks

Do you mean the file is in ANSI ASCII, or do you mean the file is converted from EBCDIC to ASCII (ANSI is not exactly ASCII -- the characters map differently)?
You could use the Unix System Services (USS) editor to view the ASCII file directly, or use USS iconv command to convert back to EBCDIC to view, or download in binary to a PC and use a text editor to view the data ... perhaps if you can clarify what you're looking for? |
