Hello,
Do you know the PDS where all the Jobs reside? If so then you can search this Job library using 'SRCHFOR' option with the PS name. The member which contains the PS name with DISP=,CATLG is the one which creates this dataset. |

Hi Mohamed,
that is not conclusive, the file could have been created by anybody that has access to do so.
SMF data can help.

Ok. Thanks Gerry. I failed to recognise several other ways of creating the dataset.
But if he is sure that a Job creates that PS then my solution is one way of identification.
Thanks for correcting me. |

Hi Gerry,
Thanks for your replies.I am not having a idea about SMF.Will you please make me clear about this concept.
Hi Mohamed,
If we know the PDS name, there is no need to exeute the JCL.we can get the name using 3.14 options.
My question is we are having a jcl and its having a PS.He/She executed the JCL and the job creates the PS.i want to know the name of the job and id of the person executed the job.
Thanks & Regards

System Management Facility (SMF) is a subsystem of z/OS that records data about the system. If you look on IBM's web site and search for SMF you'll find lots of information about it. SMF consists of more than 100 record types for the different subsystems and records a multitude of data including datasets created by a job. However, unless you're already using a package such as MICS or MXG to process the SMF data, it can be very difficult to extract what you need from the SMF records since SMF records data at the bit level in many cases and uses variable length records. SMF also records interval statistics at intervals set by your systems support group. SAS is probably the best tool for accessing the raw SMF data, followed by HLASM. You do not want to access it with COBOL unless you can get very clever with bits. |
