Hi Frnds,
I have one doubt regarding jobs in spool.
whenever we submitted jobs they will be available in spool upto some time limit. After some duration they will not be available in spool.
Is there any location that we have to recollect those jobs? |

Site specific - if your site does a regular spool backup the data will be on the backup volume, if not - as most shops do not do this. It is gone forever. |

the jobs in the spool are stored ( gues what ) in the spool,
until they are processed by an output processor,
could be a print or a dump processor
when the outputs are processed by a sysout retrieval and store system
the logic is that the outputs stays there until, according to business rules
they are deleted and consequently lost
for the output that have to abide to legal concerns ( kept for a number of years )
different approaches might be followed depending on the organization
( stored on microfilm, or optical devices, .... )
I would say that
spool is short term, sysout archival systems are medium term
but to have a better insight of these issues You better speak to somebody
in Your organization |

Minor clarification;
"a sysout retrieval and store system " typically refers to a software product such as CA-Dispatch, CA-View (with or without CA-Deliver), CA-JMR or EOS (Enterprise Output Solution) from Roger Systems.
There's probably a LOT of good things that can be done for your business with proper Output Management products and processes.
Cheers! |
