Just other silly question - why numeric "nodes" re not allowed in DSNs? Any history behind ? |

Hi,
As my question is been splitted from other thread I would need to restate this - I try to allocate a DSN XXXXXX.node2.280108 it's "last node" is only "numeric", using ISPF 3.2 I was not allowed to creates this. There was a message "Invalid DSN - qualifier" & the other long message was "Each qualifier must be 1-8 alphanumeric characters, the first alphabetic." - my concren is why so? |

Yup..it's out of curiosity - as we don't use "(punch) cards" now but we still use the terms Job card", "sort card"..and when you punt history talks about "punch cards" - do we have any such connection in reference of my question.. |
