copy vsam to vsam

i want to copy vsam to vsam from prod region to test region. Any jcl available. is there any way to see in to vsam file data any jcl for that too. we dont have file aid or dont know where it is so file aid wont help.

Look at EXPORT / IMPORT

The IDCAMS manual is just a click away from here

Please provide me a jcl for the same. and i want to restrict number of records to be copied too... if you can refer me a book for vsam operations that will be help full ... a link to soft copy is best...

Please do not ask for code unless you are willing to pay my daily rate for supplying tested and documented code.

Look very carefully at my previous post, place your cusor on the word "IDCAMS" and then click.

You might also consider using DFdss for multiple files or FAVER if it is installed at your site.

but the one you were saying (export/import) i dint got that.
Thanks any way. finaly my job ran successfully.

i hvae a few queries though.
1) how to create vsam file using attributes of a allready present vsam file.
with data and without copying the data.
2) how to view a vsam file attributes.
3) how to view a vsam file contents.

So what did you use to do your copy ?

And further reading materials ...................
1) Look at the DEFINE statement of IDCAMS
2) Look at the LISTCAT statement of IDCAMS
3) Look at the PRINT or REPRO statements of IDCAMS

one infile one outfile it went file but given a condition code 4 for opening of output file. Dont know how it ran successfull after that.
