Hi,
In our shop, we are using PLATINUM TOOL for DB2. We are using tools like RC/Query, Migrator, RC/Update, ISQL, Space Calculator, Plan Analyzer, RC/Detector. Thing is, the tool is very slow. There is a Platinum Database, it has lot of tables, I was told to identity which tool is using which tables. Till now I have identitfied just one table for migrator, thing is a particular table can use & will use multiple tables also. Is there a way to identify which tool is using which tables, or which application is using which tables IN DB2 or PLATINUM.
That would be very helpful!

Hi,
I have identified tools & their respective tables., by browsing the tables & naming conventions of the table(sort of like a guess work). Good things is they seem to be correct.
Now, I was told to create an index for one of the tool to speed it up a little bit. My question is "how to identify, how a tool queries a particular table"
I am just looking for some clues.

Hi,
This becomes a Tool specific question either you know or you don't and unfortunately 'am not PLATINUM user- however here is a quick reference of commands for CA/Platinum DB2 Tool www.ruban.de/DB2_for_z_OS/PLATQREF.PDF .
Hope this helps. |

Anuj,
I was told to create an additional INDEX on a platinum table, which should speed it up a little bit. My question is "Platinum tool is using the table, how do i know on what basis or condition it is searching table ?"
Without knowing this, how do i create an index on a unknown column ?
Am i looking at this in a wrong direction or do i need to see this in another way?
