I need to compare two PS files
The order of content is different in the two files
There is no key by which i can sort the file
I need to get the differences between two files but it should not show the difference in position as a difference
Can anyone of you please say me if it can be done superC

Helllo,

Sort both files into some arbitrary sequence (account, amount, and date for example). Then compare the files with superc. This will show the differences in the data and not the positon.

There is no unique field by which sorting can be done
So i need to compare without sorting

If you dont require the difference in position, then go for a search options as we used to find a particular string.

this suggestion is only valid if both the file contains almost same data only but not in same sequence.
If anyone has any better idea please share ..

if my understanding on your requirement is wrong please revert back.

superc will compare almost anything if the compare parameter are properly specified

superc is aimed at programming,
it will generate a report identifying
changed/inserted/deleted blocks of text,
it will generate, if specified, the IEBUPDTE control cards to update one dataset to the other one

so if You would please be more clear about the business requirement,
You might probably get better help

from the original request it might be inferred that You want to compare completely unrelated datasets,
it can be done, but the results would be of little value

Hello,

You have confused yourself. . .

You don't need a true sort key. You will make the compare possible by arranging the data in basically the same sequence. As is mentioned, sort both files on some arbitrary key of a few common data fields. If there is nothing in common at all between the files, there is no reason to compare them. . . icon_confused.gif

If you provide a better explannation of your requirement, we might make better suggestions.
