Hi All,

I have received a message when I logged on in ISPF, however, I wasn't able to save the contents. Is there a way to see the message again?

I have tried using LISTBC command, but it doesn't show anything, even when I tried to send a message to myself.

I have also tried viewing SYS1.BRODCAST, but it is not viewable in TSO because, from the message, it said that DSORG=DA is not supported.

Please advise,
Thanks.

Hello,

You might look in your "log" dataset. Information is written to the log by many activities, but i do not recall if received message text is one of them.

Good day Dick,
Uhm.. I don't know which "log"dataset to look at.
I tried USERID.* and look for anything with LOG in the name, but nothing shows anything about received messages..

Too bad for me. icon_sad.gif

Depending on who issued the message, there might be something in the system log. Use SDSF to view.

Logon again. If you do not get the message, you might feel free to ignore it.

Did you check <userid>.SPFLOG1.LIST? If your settings delete it when you log out of ISPF, it's gone. And it might not have been in there in the first place.

<USERID>.SPFLOG1.LIST is not catalogued.
I haven't logged off yet.

Hmm.. I read it was something like a message from someone who purged my Job which had contention with production run, and it contained info regarding when and how should i run my test.

I wasn't too careful that upon PF3, I can't retrieve it anymore using LISTBC.

Hello,

Look for other datasets prefixed with your userid containing LOG.

If your job was canceled due to a production conflict, you may find your job in the system log using SDSF. If you don't know what time, start at the current time and "find" your job "prev". Depending on how much has gone on since the job was canceled, it may take a few minutes.

I am not able to find any dataset with log anywhere on the filename.

From what I remembered, they cancelled my job and suggested I use a different load library etc., the DSN of which was included in the message that I am trying to retrieve.

I guess I'll just have to ask for that dataset from someone.

Thanks for all your help.

It is not usual to change loadlib names - they are usually constant.

I'd recommend you make sure of what the problem was before you change anything. It may have happened that your job was trying to compile/run at the same time the library was being backed up. If not, it would be advisable to find out what the real problem was. . .

Hi Dick,

In our system, we sometimes use a different loadlib for some called modules (eg. same process, but accessing a different test DB2 table which is equivalent to what the production version is using) to facilitate select/insert/update/delete that the called module does, which we can not do if we use the production version because of lack of table privilege.

I have not read the message much, that is why I am trying to retrieve the message regarding what the instruction was.

Anyway, when I re-ran my job this morning, all went fine, icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for all the help, icon_razz.gif
