Hi,
I am developing a tool where i am processing HLIST output and counting no of HSM back up versions available for a dataset.
Right now i am using application high level qualifier to scan through the each record to determine the back up generation as in my shop the hsm back up has application highlevel qualifer in one of the nodes.
HSMBKU1.BACK.*.High-level-qualifier.*
I would like to know if this is the case any shop or not?
I would appreciate if you can share with me how the HSM back up name appears in yours?
Thanks
Satya. |

The output names of backup and migration versions generally follow the same pattern, but are subject to site specific variations.
You need to look at the HSM startup parmlib member. |

Thanks expat.
So is it safe if i scan with the word "HSMBKU1" instead of high level qualifier and where can i find the HSM startup parmlib member. |

The HSM startup parmlib member will probably need a system support person to look up for you -- it'll be listed in the HSM job JCL but you may not have access to the file. |

Hello Satya,
Suggest you work with your Storage Management people for the answer. This would be as much for relatonship building as technical info. They (and your other system support people, o/s, cics, dba, scheduling, etc) are an important group to be comfortable working with.
Besides, you may be interested in that type of responsibility some day. |
