How to find the binary no's

Hi All,
I want to know, How to find the binary number in a dataset.we are opening a dataset in view mode and then if i know the position of the numbers, how can i see that number not the junk values for eg:it would be like '&!}{' all that but i want to know what numbers are there.

Any combination of hex characters is a valid binary number so it's not easy to find the decimal number equivalent of what you suspect may or may not be a binary number.
