Hi all,

when i try to view or browse the PDS file, it's through up the error like 'INVALID DATASET ORG"

I know it can be view or browse by using the tool like PANVALET,or some other tool.

My question is

why this message is pop-up?
Is it possible without using the tool can be open?
how can i view or browse the source library?

Thanks
-Suresh

If it's a PANVALET library, using the PANVALET tools.

These datasets are not straight forward PDS organisation.

Having tried to open the dataset and not using the appropriate software you have experienced errors.

So, do you think it is possible to open the dataset without the appropriate tool ?

Hi,

'am not PANVALET user but it seems that PDS is specific to PANVALET and as Expat said "These datasets are not straight forward PDS organisation" so may be it is not possible to open the dataset without the appropriate tool, posting Data Set Information might help further.

Hello,

We have PANVALET and this is what 'I' shows. But I am able to browse the dataset just like any other PS. But it does n't make any sense opening this without PANVALET as you'll NOT be able to do view/edit/rename and many other functions done thru PANVALET .
Code:
Organization  . . . : PS
Record format . . . : FS
Record length . . . : 0
Block size  . . . . : 18452

Hello,

You are trying to access some proprietary file without using the proper software required to access this file. As the system told you, you cannot use this file with standard tso/ispf commands.

You need to talk with your support people about what is needed to work with this file - if indeed you should be referencing the file at all. . .

Just curious - why do you believe you are having trouble opening a pds?
