ISPF Dialog components (panels, messages) do support ALARM. I don't think it has something to do with console, however.

Hello,
Before implementing somthing that will require operator intervention on the system console you need to mak sure this is acceptable with operations and technical management.
None of the places i've supported for many years permit application programs/jobs to interact with the console. It causes far more confusion and problems than it helps. What is being done quite often is that a job sends e-mail to prople who need to know of some processing situation. Additionally, alerts are built into the scheduling system. |

Just wondering, this ALARM, is it like a personal alarm(pop-up for us alone) or just to display a message for us or other. Can i know the purpose of this ALARM. Just wanting to know the ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES.
In our shop like d.sh said "email is used". One more thing, Can i know, from mainframe instead of email, a MOBILE SMS can it be sent.

Suggest you talk with your network support people and see what options might be available on your system/network. The answer will be completely site-specific and may include other purchased/leased software and hardware. |
