we have requirement to accomodate 11 DP's but natural supports only 7 dp's. Please help how to full fill this requirement.

storing in database can be done in any form but at the time of display it should accomodate for 11 DP's.

Regards
Sukumar

Hello,

Please describe what is a "DP". Even if someone does not work with Natural, they may be able to make a suggestion if they understand what the requirement is and "7" limitation.

I mention this as it has been 8 hours and no replies icon_smile.gif

Requirement is : right now system is accomodating only 7 decimal points now we are required to expand to 11 decimal points.

example:

Taxrate (N2.7) can store upto 7 decimal points now we are required to store upto 11 decimals for this variable.

Using Numeric or Packed variables - it can't be done.

However, you may use a Floating Point (F8) variable, which allows a precision of 16 decimal points, and then move the result to an alphanumeric variable, for display purposes only.

if there were they would have been proposed to You
are there any reasons that You are not satisfied with the proposed solution?
it' s a lack of respect to object to a solution posted by an expert!

anyway just out of curiosity I checked a few national sites concerned with tax calculations

the general approach for amounts is to use 4 decimals digits for computations and display 2 decimal digits

when calculating average pergentages is to use 6 decimals digits for computations and 4 decimal digits for the final result

sometimes when the currency has also cents the digits for amounts become 6 and 4 ( rarely )

in order to yield also hundredths of cents
but normally it' s a useless precision

I doesn't mean to hurt any one by asking other solutions. My sincere apologies.
