Hi,
We use IERRCO00 command to sort one of our files which has about 25 million records. The time for sort is about 2 hours, which has to be decreased at any cost. I was wondering if DFSORT or SYNCSORT would work better. I have used these two before, but I had never seen IERRCO00. Does anybody know, if IERRCO00 can be replaced by DFSORT/SYNCSORT, with an enhanced performance? Also I tried to search some reference material on IERRCO00, but could not find one. If anybody has it, please provide. |

Sometimes a load module will have an ALIAS name for ease of use, such as IERRCO00 has alias SORT.

Hi Charudatta,
Giving PGM=ERRCO00 is same as PGM=SORT
It invokes sort product installed at your shop.
You have to post sort message to check if it is DFSORT or SYNCSORT.

as far as time is concerned,
You may have to post your requirement and sort card you are using currently.
Geeks here may help you in fine-tunning it further |

Hello Charudatta and welcome to the forum,
If you post your jcl and control statements for this process, it will help us help you.
Where is the data stored (tape, dasd, etc)? |

the ierrco00 is an alias for the sort program...
it dates back to the stone age of IT (IIRC)
if You tell what the messages for a run look like we might be able to help You
if the messages start with
WER.... You are using syncsort
ICE.... You are using dsfort
but a reply from Your peers might be quicker to get |
