Hi,
When we run a spufi, it creates dataset with permanent retention period. Is there any way to alter the RETPD before or during the execution of SPUFI? |

Talk to your storage people, it is they that set dataset retention periods. |

This seems to be a local jargon of Management class at your shop instead of SPUFI's characteistics. Ran a query at my shop in SPUFI & allocated a file with Management class . . : TPS035, which means data will reside for 35 days. So I would echo Expat.
For the time being
1. You can copy the output-of-SPUFI to other DSN with the management class of your choice &
2. Delete the output from SPUFI.
3. Rename it back to the one which come out from SPUFI if you want to have the same DSN (But what's ther in a name.. ). |

Hi Anuj,
Yes MSGCLAS=TPS035 should work, but I am confused, how we can define MSGCLASS in SPUFI output dataset. We don't have option to define MSGCLAS for SPUFI output, please see the screen below.
Code: |
CURRENT SPUFI DEFAULTS SSID: DBB4
===>
Enter the following to control your SPUFI session:
1 SQL TERMINATOR .. ===> ; (SQL Statement Terminator)
2 ISOLATION LEVEL ===> CS (RR=Repeatable Read, CS=Cursor Stability)
3 MAX SELECT LINES ===> 999999 (Maximum number of lines to be
returned from a SELECT)
4 ALLOW SQL WARNINGS===> NO (Continue fetching after sqlwarning)
5 CHANGE PLAN NAMES ===> NO (Change the plan names used by SPUFI)
Output data set characteristics:
6 RECORD LENGTH ... ===> 4000 (LRECL=Logical record length)
7 BLOCK SIZE ...... ===> 8000 (Size of one block)
8 RECORD FORMAT ... ===> FB (RECFM=F, FB, FBA, V, VB, or VBA)
9 DEVICE TYPE ..... ===> dasd (Must be DASD unit name)
Output format characteristics:
10 MAX NUMERIC FIELD ===> 33 (Maximum width for numeric fields)
11 MAX CHAR FIELD .. ===> 80 (Maximum width for character fields)
12 COLUMN HEADING .. ===> NAMES (NAMES, LABELS, ANY or BOTH)
F1=HELP F2=SPLIT F3=END F4=RETURN F5=RFIND F6=RCHANGE
F7=UP F8=DOWN F9=SWAP F10=LEFT F11=RIGHT F12=RETRIEVE |
Please suggest..! |

Hi
You can create a PS file with the MSGCLASS as you mentioned and give that PS file in the SPUFI Output. It should work |

Hi,
If we need to create PS dataset separately, we can give the RETPD that time.... |

Just before the panel you've shown there is a panel where you need to provide the DSN name in which you want to capture the output of query(ies) of intrest, at my shop this option is option 4 in SPUFI, while allocating the DSN then to select the Management class of that DSN is your hand.
Code: |
4 DATA SET NAME ... ===> 'XXXXX.QUERY.FILE.OUT' |

Saying, i believe. . .
When we create PS datasets, we can specify the RETPD. |
