I want to sort a files in a hierarchical fashion

Code:

1330                         ABLCADATA
41T6035749                   4BLCA1330
BUSINESSSAVINGSPLAN    0001181BLCA41T6035749
4166317851             0001181BLCA41T6035749
NCNDDA4166317851       0001181BLCA4166317851
1331                         ABLCADATA
1333                         ABLCADATA
41T6025695                   4BLCA1333
1334                         ABLCADATA
41T6025696                   4BLCA1334
BUSINESSSAVINGSPLAN    0001161BLCA41T6025696
9058813250             0001161BLCA41T6025696
NCNDDA9058813250       0001161BLCA9058813250
1337                         ABLCADATA

The value "DATA" in first row is a parent name and the value "1330" in the same row is the child name. Further to this row I need to place the records where child name in the previous row should be the parent in the next row. Please refer to second row where "1330" is a parent name.

Can this type of SORTING done using the Syncsort?

Please let me know if additional information is needed

Thanks
-Manohar

Hello,

What you describe is not "sorting" - what you have described is a BOMP (Bill of Materials Process).

You need to post the output you want from this process. If what you have posted is by chance the output, you need to post the input in some other sequence and explain the rules for getting from the input data to proper output sequence.

For examnple: There are multiple "41T6" entries. One might "see" how they should work, but the rules must be specified in order to write code.
