As I'm going to take some quick decisions, I need your help.
Could you please suggest which one is better: Cobol or Assembler as based on Market requirements?
I've already workd on Assembler for 1.2+ yrs, but there's less requirement in Assebler. I found most of the requirements are in COBOL.
Is it better to switch from Assembler to COBOL after having 1.2+ Yrs of Experience?
Thanks

You need explain this little more -
- Did you get an offer which offer JOB only if you've COBOL experience ?
- Do you have other project going on at your shop where you are supposed to join in & that needs knowledge of COBOL ? |

That would largely depend on what you want for a career.
If you intend to be a business application developer, COBOL would be the better choice.
If you want to work on lower level code (compilers, sorts, file utilities, database software) and/or become a system programmer, assembler would be a better technical choice.
Are you living where you intend to live for years? Then the local market becomes important. If you are willing to relocate, there will be more open positions (with cobol or assembler).
No one here can tell you which is the better choice for you. . .
The one thing i would recommend is to pick something you really enjoy - it is what you will do most of the time you are awake for years to come. Doing something you enjoy will mean more than $. |
