hi all,

I have an issue with following sort qery

Code:

//DFSPARM DD *
  OPTION VLSHRT
  SORT FIELDS=(104,23,CH,A)
  STOPAFT=20
  INCLUDE COND=(33,3,CH,EQ,C'ABC')
  SUM FIELDS=NONE

It will fetch first 20 unic records from the input file since i have given
sum fields = none.
If i remove sum fields=none it will search for all the records (non unique) with above conditions and displays 20 records(output)

my requirement was to display 20 records
could any one help me out

Hello,

Use
Code:
OUTFIL ENDREC=20

instead of
Code:
STOPAFT=20

Brahma,

Note that STOPAFT=20 is processed before sorting and summing takes place. ENDREC=20 is processed after sorting and summing takes place.

See the following for a Figure that shows the order of processing for DFSORT control statements and options. Keep this order in mind when deciding which control statements and options to use.
