I don't have PTF UK90013 for z/OS DFSORT V1R5 (July, 2008) installed on my shop so FINDREP doesn't work.

I want to search for particular set of characters and to be replaced with other.

Is there any other way if i don't have FINDREP working?

Sambhaji,

Didn't you look at the CHANGE parameter ?
It's use is a bit more restrictive than FINDREP but can do the work depending of your requirement.

Sambhaji,

Are you using DFSORT?

Have you tried asking your System Programmer to install the July, 2008 PTF?

You need to describe exactly what you're trying to do in more detail. What is the RECFM and LRECL of the input file? What is the set of characters you want to find and replace? Are the characters to be found and replaced in particular locations or can they be anywhere in the records?

(CHANGE is very limited compared to FINDREP.)
