Hi All,
I will have to create a new generation for an existing GDG with one row in it with a value '000000000'. Can somebody help me to create a JCL for this.

Use ISPF to create a file with the correct record length and the data you want in the GDG. Then use IEBGENER to copy the file to the GDG. Look at the JCL manuals for how to code the JCL -- and you'll probably need to talk to your coworkers about local site standards.

Hi,

When this is an existing GDG
Quote:
create a new generation for an existing GDG
then there should already be a process in place to populate values in this GDG, if you want to "break" that usual process & need some specific Data - Robert's suggestion seems quite practical.

Hi, I donot have the flexibility to create a temp file and use it to copy to the new generation since it is a prod machine and we are not supposed to do that.
I'll have to pass the value of '000000000' from the JCL only.

Thanks
