I can't run even a read job for the Prod IMS DBs in my shop because my ID does not have access to the RECON VSAMs.

But DBRC=N bypasses this difficulty.

Is it ok for me to run IMS jobs with this DBRC option frequently. My jobs are always read only and do not attempt to update the DB.

Hi,

I wonder, you know this

& still you have a question.

DBRC records and manages information about many items. DBRC keeps this information in a set of VSAM data sets that are collectively called the RECovery CONtrol (RECON) data set. Well, if it'll keep such an information for your "test jobs" what about production JOBs..

Answer to this would be site specific, please consult with your co-workers. Probably you sould not have any problem/s.
