Either reduce the size of the requested file allocation, or change the name to put it in a different storage group that does have available space.

I assume being a VSAM file there's an IDCAMS step to do the DEFINE. In that define, there's either CYLS or TRKS or RECORDS specified -- make the value smaller.

Post the IDCAMS statements for review -- how big a file are you trying to allocate?

Hello,

If this is still not fixed, and it is still "urgent", you need to talk with your storage management people (who would have been a better choice if this is urgent).

They can tell you what you need to do.

Hi,

From manuals:

Quote:
IAMW60
IAM DYNALLOC FAILED 'description'

Reason: During the processing of an IDCAMS DEFINE for an IAM file, IAM's attempted use of Dynamic Allocation failed for the specified reason. This message presents a brief English description of the error code returned by Dynamic Allocation, which is supplied in the IAMW61 error message. Both messages are printed on the system log. There will also be an IDC3009I message on SYSPRINT, with an appropriate error code.

HTH..

Good catch, Anuj. Maybe if we saw the IDC3009I message it would provide additional information.
