Differnce in Function,Shared and application profile pool

Function pool
Shared pool
Application profile pool

Sorry!!

I want to know scope of these pools.

I read ISPF manual, from there i understood -

1) application profile pool -->The profile pool contains variables that are saved to the user's profile dataset (ISPPROF) so that they can be retained between sessions.

This is fine!!

2) shared pool --> The shared pool contains the variables that are shared between ISPF applications.

What does 'between ISPF applications' exactly mean?

3) Function pool --> Does it contain program specific variables? Can somebody please provide details for this.
