I compiled the following and executed. Its still not running. If i executed it without compiling it goes fine.

/****** REXX ************/
IF SYSDSN('XXXXXX.DATASET1') = 'OK' THEN
SAY 'THE DATASET U HAVE SPECIFIED IS AVAILABLE.'
ELSE
SAY 'THE DATASET U HAVE SPECIFIED IS NOT AVAILABLE.'
EXIT

Following are some more statements that create issue while running as a load , but run fine when executed normally. Also in the compile listing, these messages are listed as "Optimizing Stoppers".

"ISPEXEC LMINIT DATAID(INDD) DATASET('"PDSNAME"')"

"ISPEXEC LMOPEN DATAID("INDD") OPTION(INPUT)"

"ISPEXEC LMMLIST DATAID("INDD") OPTION(LIST) MEMBER(MEM)"

I am using the REXXCL proc from SYS.PROCLIB for compiling and I have given STUB as MVS while compiling.

I am able to pass arguments through this JCL through PARMS. Normal rexx commands are getting executed after compiling. But the statements that are listed as OPTIMIZING STOPPERS are not getting executed in compiled version.

Can anyone please let me know what does this OPTIMIZING STOPPERS refer to and what needs to be done for correcting this.

The write up for SYSDSN in TSO Rexx Reference says this:
Quote:
You can use the SYSDSN function only in REXX execs that run in the TSO/E address space.

Similarly, the ISPF functions you want to run need an ISPF environment to run in.

I'm confused because the poster said that the code ran fine without compiling (i.e. interpreted) and is only having a problem running after being compiled.

I know nothing about compiled REXX, but am I right to presume that the ISPF components for the ISPEXEC calls have to be made available to the link-editor, the same way they would for a COBOL program, for example?

It must have run fine when he ran it from his TSO userid. But did not work when run from a batch job. Aside from compiling, they are different environments.
