The CICS System Definition Guide is a manual that walks a systems programmer through the process of establishing a new CICS region. It is a complex process that requires working with the z/OS systems support person as some of the settings impact z/OS and some of the z/OS settings impact the CICS system definition. |

Many shops have pre-defined "Canned" steps (as a CICS build/install procedure), which is modified on an as-needed basis.
As Robert has said, not only does this involve CICS System's personnel, but also z/OS System's personnel, DASD-Management personnel, your IBM SE and quite possibly, a host of others internally and (maybe) externally.
But, once it's defined and in-place, a new region can be used (for example) by WLM (Work Load Manager) in a CICSPLEX environment across multiple LPAR's or a stand-alone emergency AOR for MRO.
It's far more complex than (for example) an initial-boot of a PC
Regards,
Bill |
