Hi,

Currently business is going through some additional data migrations into its existing apps after a number of M&A's in recent past. Database is mainly VSAM files and DB2.

Very roughly my requirement is to prepare a sort of tool which can help in determining if 'X' number of records are entering into the application then how much space etc would be required to soak all the data up.

Can you please give some insight how to progress on this. I would like to do this using rexx.

Regards
Rahul.

For VSAM, from LISTCAT you can get the number of CI per CA, and from the record length can get a rough estimate of the number of records that will fit into a CI. But don't forget to take the FSPC parameters into account.

As for DB2 ................................ no ideas
