How to declare cobol variable length

Hi,

in cobol for variable how to declare?and also if you are writing the variable length records in a file .any extra codings we have to prefer plz give me an sugestion with correct syntax.

hi,

working storgae section is used for defined the variable declaration.
i didnt get your other query that is u r telling file length, i think it is depends upon ur requirement. wht do u mean by extra coding?
