Hi,
Does anyone know if there is any way to pull the fiscal month of a given date in cobol ? Normally the month of the date should be it's fiscal month but in specific cases for example date of 08/01/2008 is a part of fiscal month July only and I need my program to tell that to me.
Thanks in advance,
Manish |

fiscal - meaning accounting periods?
maybe ibm provides a modified calendar (along with a real calendar)
but I doubt it.
this kind of stuff should be application controlled (usually is).
only in your company is the 1st of aug part of july. |

Hello,
Organizations that have special date requirements usually have a custom calendar sub-system that is used by all of the applications that need date logic. |

There will be a Date routine to convert Calender date to Fiscal date. If u give the Calender date as the input to the date routine the output will be Fiscal date. It will complete all the information regarding Fiscal Month, Fiscal day and etc... |

Hello ravi and welcome to the forums,
I edited your reply to be what i believe is what you wanted to post. If i understood, you wanted to quote the original post and ask a questions. If i misunderstood, let me know and i'll correct as needed
Fiscal month and fiscal year are accounting concepts. Some accounting and tax processesing operate on other than the standard month and year of the calendar. For example, several of my clients use July to June as their fiscal year. |
