Need technical procedure to connect to VSAM files and work with it as db2 tables usnig SQL/DML, from my searches i found many products that can do the job like Websphere classic connect 9.1 and db2 connect, Can anyone till me How technically could it be done both from servers side (Zos ver 1.4) and from client side (windows) ? and is there a freeware ODBC for this ? |

Hello,
I am not aware of any products that access vsam files using db2 sql/dml.
While you may connect to vsam remotely, i am not aware of any software to do this for free.
If you explain your requirement (not how you want to solve it), someone may have a suggestion. |

tcExpress and tcAccess are 2 products that may help.
I know one of them does map VSAM to SQL notation from a Windows machine. Someone has to manually map the copybook for each VSAM to an column name to be used via SQL though. |
