Hello Friends...
I'm new member of the forum & have recently completed Mainframe Course. I have an offer for Production Support Work, so I want to know about it. Will anybody explain me what exactly Production Support is?
Thanks & Regards,
Pallavi. |

Exactly what it implies, the support and implementation of work into the production environment.
1) Resolve production problems
2) Implement new work into production making sure it has been properly tested |

In support
Resolving production abends is the main task.Jobs running in production may abend due to many reasons ,support people are supposed to analyse those reasons and fix them permanently. Also need to do performance improvement of the batch jobs and online screens when needed.
If you are in doubt with the learning opportunities then I would say you will learn more quick. In support you will learn quickly about system processing, dataflow, abends and definitely business knowledge.
Thanks,
Sid.. |
