Here's a DFSORT/ICETOOL job that will do what you asked for:

Code:

//S1    EXEC  PGM=ICETOOL
//TOOLMSG DD SYSOUT=*
//DFSMSG  DD SYSOUT=*
//IN DD *
JOBA USR JOB SUB 07-23-2008 04:53:58.12
JOBA USR JOB END 07-23-2008 05:31:50.99
/*
//OUT DD SYSOUT=*
//TOOLIN DD *
SPLICE FROM(IN) TO(OUT) ON(5,1,CH) WITH(29,22) USING(CTL1)
/*
//CTL1CNTL DD *
  INREC IFOUTLEN=80,
    IFTHEN=(WHEN=(14,3,CH,EQ,C'SUB'),
      BUILD=(1,5,18,22)),
    IFTHEN=(WHEN=NONE,BUILD=(29:18,22))
/*

hi,
Thanks for the solution. But actually I have a large file containing 1000s of records and how can I include the entire file? Please help.
The output file should be like this.

JOBA STARTDATE START-TIME END-DATE END-TIME
JOBB STARTDATE START-TIME END-DATE END-TIME
JOBC STARTDATE START-TIME END-DATE END-TIME
JOBD STARTDATE START-TIME END-DATE END-TIME
JOBE STARTDATE START-TIME END-DATE END-TIME
JOBF STARTDATE START-TIME END-DATE END-TIME

Sigh. Why didn't you say that in the first place? Did you expect me to read your mind to figure that out? icon_rolleyes.gif

Here's a DFSORT/ICETOOL job for your new requirement:

Code:

//S1    EXEC  PGM=ICETOOL
//TOOLMSG DD SYSOUT=*
//DFSMSG  DD SYSOUT=*
//IN DD DSN=...  input file (FB/80)
//OUT DD DSN=...  output file (FB/80)
//TOOLIN DD *
SPLICE FROM(IN) TO(OUT) ON(1,4,CH) WITH(29,22) USING(CTL1)
/*
//CTL1CNTL DD *
  INREC IFOUTLEN=80,
    IFTHEN=(WHEN=(14,3,CH,EQ,C'SUB'),
      BUILD=(1,5,18,22)),
    IFTHEN=(WHEN=NONE,BUILD=(1,4,29:18,22))
/*
