record selection based on high and low value

Hi ,

In DB2 table , one column is defined with CHAR(05).
First three bytes is having high values and last two bytes is having spaces.
I want to retrieve rows only having high values in the first three bytes.

Please suggest.

AND SUBSTR(columnname,1,3) = X'FFFFFF'
