Hello,
What is your area of responsibility within the organization? |

bhag281, I think your question is not stated correctly. Perhaps you mean 'How to delete the output of a particular job from the spool, after 15 minutes?" |

hi pedro,
the jobs in the spool should be automatically deleted? this is what I mean..... ...
Actually I searched in the net and referred some books for the solution. I got an answer, I am not sure of it.
this is the solution............
We have to use the Tivoli Work Load Scheduler for executing this task. First we have to write a JCL, which will delete the jobs in the spool after 15 minutes, then automate it through the Tivoli Work Load Scheduler.
The template of the JCL is shown below.
//USEG003A JOB NAME
//STEP1 EXEC PGM=SDSF
//SYSTRIN DD *
$TA, I=900, ‘&PO JQ,ALL
/*

Hello,
Once again,

The reason i ask is that i have supported multiple organizations that have teminated people for issuing a wholesale purge of spooled jobs.
If you are not part of operations or system support, i very much urge you talk with those people and make sure you do not cause yourself major grief while trying to provide a service. . . |

If my test runs for an hour and finishes while I'm at lunch I would hate to come back after a half hour and find the results have been purged. |

Perhaps our concern is not clear to you; perhaps you do not know the terminology.
1. on z/OS, all users share a common spool
2. if you delete all job output, it affects all users of the system
3. it is unusual to delete everything after 15 minutes. My local system keeps job output for seven days. If you wanted to delete after 15 days, it would sound reasonable.
The $TA command in your example will not do what you want. The command runs every 15 minutes, regardless of the state of any jobs. If a job finishes at 9:14:59 and your command next runs at 9:15:00, the job output will be deleted after only 1 second. |
